The Tomahawk Family Fun Itinerary
Tomahawk is full of fun things for families to do! Whether you and your family have a week, a few days or just a weekend to spend together, Tomahawk is the perfect place for families to have fun.
Here’s a just a sample of what a great family weekend in Tomahawk might look like:
8:00 a.m. — Breakfast at one of Tomahawk’s great restaurants.
9:00 a.m. — Head to Zinger’s Paintball for an exciting game of paintball or remote control cars. This terrific facility of hills, fields, swamps, bridges and woodlands is one of the best in the state for paintball fun.
11:00 a.m. — Pack a picnic lunch from one of our local grocery stores and head out for a leisurely afternoon of boat riding on Lake Mohawksin and the Wisconsin River. Don’t have a boat? Rent one from Tomahawk Sports Center located on the Mohawksin. Cruise up the Mohawksin and cool off with a swim at SARA Park Beach. SARA Park is located on West Somo Avenue. The park offers a baseball field, soccer field, volley ball, activity center, indoor ice skating/hockey rink, playground and swimming beach.
2:00 p.m. — Take a break from fishing and enjoy an ice cream treat at The Windmill Ice Cream Shoppe.
5:30 p.m. — Head back to town after your boat ride and enjoy dinner at one of Tomahawks many restaurants.
7:00 p.m. — Arrive early at Veterans Memorial Park for the Kwahamot Water Ski Shows which begins at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy fabulous stunts and the amazing athleticism of these talented water skiers.
9:00 p.m. — Get to bed! We have a big day tomorrow.
8:00 a.m. — Breakfast at your favorite Tomahawk restaurant.
9:00 a.m. — Enjoy a round of miniature golf and then an ice cream cone at Big Bear Mini Golf & Ice Cream Shop.
Noon — Grab a burger at a Tomahawk area restaurant.
1:00 p.m. — A great way to spend an afternoon is a nature walk or bicycle ride in the shade of the cool pines on the Hiawatha Trail. The southern trailhead of the Hiawatha Trail is only minutes north of Tomahawk. The trail passes several lakes and has some of the best scenery in the Northwoods.
5:00 p.m. — Rest your weary legs and have dinner in Tomahawk.
7:00 p.m. — Enjoy a movie at the Tomahawk Cinema. Call for current movie and time.
10:00 p.m. — You’re probably beat after a long day of fun. Get some sleep!
6:00 a.m. — Wake up at the crack of dawn for fishing on some of Wisconsin’s best fishing lakes. With some great bait shops and plenty of walleye, northern pike, bass, musky and pan fish, you’ve got all the ingredients for a great day fishing.
Noon — Lunch. After a morning of fishing, you’ll be ready for a bite to eat.
1:00 p.m. — Enjoy an afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park. Read a book sitting under a tree while the kids play on the playground and explore the Army tank. Challenge the kids to a game of volleyball. Just across the road (across Fourth Avenue), take a walk on Tomahawk’s Riverwalk. A short walk with beautiful lake scenery. Grill out hot dogs under the parks covered shelter.
6:00 p.m. — Cruise the beautiful Wisconsin River in a double decked excursion boat. Have a drink while the scenery floats by. The Wilderness Queen is waiting for you to come aboard!
10:00 p.m. — Get some sleep—you’ve done a great job having fun all day in Tomahawk!
