Tomahawk Honor Guard Service
TOMAHAWK HONOR GUARD AT PRAIRIE RAPIDS AND HARSHAW: A Memorial Day service will be conducted Saturday, May 25 in the morning. by the Tomahawk Area Honor Guard at Prairie Rapids Cemetery and then proceed to the Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw for their service at 11:30 a.m.

 

Prairie Rapids Cemetery ceremony
PRAIRIE RAPIDS CEMETERY, TOWN OF NOKOMIS: Eighty-eight veterans buried in Prairie Rapids Cemetery will be honored in a ceremony Saturday, May 25 at 9:30 a.m. There will be a presentation of colors by the American Legion Post 93, a welcome by the town chairman, benediction by Deacon Cliff Eggett, placing of the wreath, a reading, and the names of the deceased veterans will be read, with the ringing of a newly renovated bell donated by Donald and Gloria Harte and Patrice Schlachter after each name is announced. Taps will follow.

Union Grove Cemetery Memorial Service
HARSHAW: The annual Memorial Day Ceremony, will be held Saturday, May 25 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Union Grove Cemetery’s Veterans Memorial on Lakewood Road in Harshaw. Lunch will be served following the ceremony at the Cassian Town Hall on Church Road in Harshaw. The event is sponsored by the Union Grove Veterans Memorial Committee and Veterans Ceremony-Union Grove Cemetery, Inc. For information, call 715-282-5362 or 715-277-2070.

Skanawan veterans program
SKANAWAN: Here’s a chance to honor Skanawan veterans at a program Monday, May 27 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Activities include music by Dave Fox and Friends from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.; program, 11:45 a.m.; and American Legion/VFW Color Guard, noon. Bring a chair or blanket.

 Merrill Memorial Day ceremonies
Merrill will host two Memorial Day ceremonies this year at the Veterans Memorial Garden in St. Francis Cemetery, 211 Memorial Dr., north side of Thielman Street along the far west four blocks of the city of Merrill. Prior to the main Memorial Program a Christian Mass service will be held from 9 a.m. with the program starting at 11 a.m.
In the afternoon beginning at noon, another program will be held at Cenotaph Monument on Merrill’s west side on Prospect Street. Streets will be closed and music will be played along with live entertainment. At 3:45 p.m., A memorial honoring 40 Lincoln County veterans who died in the First World War will be unveiled.
  




Main Street Memories Car Show Activities (11:00 am - 7:00 pm)

Saturday Activities-All activities are downtown unless otherwise noted.

  • 11AM to 1PM - Model A Photo Stand-in created by local artist Natalie Watland. Reminiscent of the rumble seats, kids can pop out the cut out faces and have their photos taken with their siblings, parents or friends at no charge.
  • 11AM to 1PM - Race Car Cake Walk with Tomahawk United Methodist Church. Returning from last year. Kids enter the race track and ‘vroom’ to the music until they land on the winning checkered flag and win!  Every child wins and decorates a cupcake donated by Nelson’s County Market. The event will be held on North 3rd Street. Additional sweets are available for purchase by Tomahawk United Methodist Church.
  • Noon – Skateboard Competition in Pride Park. To celebrate the newly renovated Skateboard Park in Pride Park. There will be music, trophies,cash awards and prizes!
  • Noon to 4PM - Motorcycle Attraction, presenting a custom, stock and vintage motorcycles. $5.00 fee to enter each motorcycle. The event location is between South Tomahawk Avenue and Railway Street. In case of rain the event will be held at SARA Park Recreational Center. For more information, please call (715) 453-4085.
  • 5PM to 7PM – A  Main Street Memories tradition – a “Memories” Kick-Off at Rodeo Saloon with                    TNT karaoke, merchandise raffles.

Main Street Memories Car Show (9:00 am - 3:00 pm)

18th Annual Main Street Memories Car Show

SUNDAY, MAY 27 –9:00am  - 3:00pm  THE BIG CAR SHOW – FREE FOR SPECTATORS!

The big Car Show – held rain or shine - on the main drag with 300 antique, hot rods and classic which is free to spectators.The day includes music by DJ Brown,raffles,non-profit vendors, Craft & Bazaar Show and concessions.

9:00am Bench Racing, Baby! Story-Telling Contest with WJJQ’s Jeff In-the-Morning Craft & Bazaar Show DJ Brown• Raffles and Concessions

9:00am - 3:00pm Kids Car Korral presented by Dr. Dean Hussong ($1 for kids, free to parents, and receive chance to win exotic stuffed animals donated by Forest Land Sports or large stuffed Super Bears from Bear Staffing Services) with Fantasy Coral Petting Zoo, Sue the Balloon Lady,Photos with Bear Staffing's"Blue the Big Bear", Photo Stan-In with Model A by Natalie Watland and Nelson’s Coloring Contest 9AM to 3PM. There will be an additional fee for pony rides.

3:00pm Sharp- Bear Staffing Awards Ceremony will be held near the corner of 2nd and West Wisconsin Avenue where trophies are awarded in 26 categories. Tomahawk's Mayor Bob Lee will present the Mayor's Choice award. Additional awards given in these categories: Club Participation,Oldest Participant, Youngest Participant,Best in Show and People's Choice. New this year, ballots for the People's Choice award will be available at the Tomahawk Main Street information booth for $1.00 each.

CALLING ALL CAR ENTHUSIASTS & COLLECTORS!  Enter your car in MAIN STREET MEMORIES CAR SHOW – one of Wisconsin’s first car shows of the season, all taking place on blacktop with a backdrop of a historic downtown.  58 big trophies in over 26 classes! Vintage looking dash plaques! Great goody bags!

Registration from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 NOON. Registration fee is $15.00 and only a first-serve, first-come basis, limited to 300 cars. WaWui Bingo At SARA Park (5:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

Wa Wui Ltd, a Wisconsin non profit corporation hosts Wisconsin licensed bingo events at SARA Park. 2012 bingo dates begin March 7 and every Wednesday between May 2 and September 5. All are welcome to play, including supervised minors. Doors open at 5:30 P.M., first game is at 7 P.M.. 15 games are played each evening plus a progressive blackout session. Prize money between $550 and $1,000, plus the progressive jackpot is won at each session. Rip tickets and lite refreshments are available. All bingo proceeds go to the operation and expansion of SARA Park.
